It is no longer National Hate Myself and Want to Die Day. I am back, and armed with my Book of Tortuous Writing Exercises.
Let's try this one on for size:
Alarm Clock Dream: Write a short short story [or poem, as we're pretty heavily poem-based here] in which an alarm clock going off in the middle of the story plays some kind of crucial role. Half the story will be dream and half reality—try to construct a mirror image on either side of this alarm clock sound.
Oh, boy, I can't wait to hear how you eat your way around the seemingly inevitable cliche this exercise is.
